Transactions II / Boston

Transactions II was the second stage of an exchange between the Mobius Artists Group (Boston) and Bbeyond (Belfast, Northern Ireland). The first stage of this project, Transactions I, was presented in Belfast in May 2018. Transactions II was presented on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston in September 2018. Thirteen Mobius and Bbeyond artists presented new works designed for the meandering gardens, pathways, and architecture of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The Greenway offers urban versus landscaped areas stretching from historical Chinatown to the North End of Boston, across multiple cultural landmarks and communities therein. Active participation and engagement of audiences including residents, tourists, passers-by, and other artists was a primary element of the works. The event was followed by a panel discussion concerning performance in public space held at the Fort Point Artists Collective in the nearby Seaport area of Boston. The Transactions series provided the opportunity for each group to learn new approaches for engaging the public in cultural activities.
