Transactions I / Belfast

Transactions I was the first stage of an exchange between the Mobius Artists Group in Boston, USA and Bbeyond in Belfast, IRE. Five Mobius Artist Group members traveled to Belfast for five days where they joined Bbeyond artists in a series of panel discussions concerning performance in public space followed by the performance of new works sited in public spaces in Belfast. The exchange, which emphasized Boston and Belfast’s relationship as sister cities, provided artists working at the helm of experimental practice in live performance, movement, and sound the opportunity to learn from each other, share audiences and work across national and cultural contexts while building connections through the creation of new works. The transaction series builds upon the legacy of both artist-run organizations and their successful track record initiating international artist exchanges which have been indispensable for strengthening the quality of artwork. In addition, both organizations have extensive experience creating work for diverse audiences in a range of public contexts.
