Spiderweb Presents Anukriti Kaushik

Spiderweb - Anukriti Kaushik

Anukriti Kaushik (b. 1998, India) is a multidisciplinary Indian artist based in Boston and New Delhi. Predominantly working with drawing, painting, video, text and curatorial practices, their practice involves rendering the Queer, femme body to recontextualise it as sacred and sublime. Drawing from personal and collective experiences, they generate visual narratives that challenge rigid norms and traditions pertaining to beauty, gender, sexuality and notions of fundamentalism within the Hindu community. Through the creation of gender bending personas they envision autonomy and preservation of the Queer Femme body. Anukriti is currently the 2021 studio resident at Boston Centre for the Arts.

Spiderweb envisions the vast number of artists throughout the city of Boston as potential individual threads of a web to which Mobius can connect and then act as a connection point for others. Spiderweb artists are invited to present their work in an online forum hosted by Mobius and are encouraged to invite members of their community including friends, family, and artist colleagues. Each presentation is followed by a lively group discussion. Each artist is paid an honorarium for their presentation and then asked to invite another artist they know and admire to be the next connection on the web.

Sunday, November 7, 2021 at noon Mobius is pleased to present Anukriti Kaushik.
