About Saint Augustine’s:
Anchored by leadership from African diasporic families in Cambridgeport, Saint Augustine’s has long served a diverse community. The church, purchased in 1926 by the African Orthodox Church, stands as a historic symbol of civil rights, social equity, and the legacy of the West Indian community in Cambridge. With its roots in Pan-Africanism and the leadership of figures like Rev. George Alexander McGuire, the church holds a deep connection to the history of marginalized peoples in the Americas and Africa.
