Burns Maxey

Burns Maxey is a multi-media artist who is continuously interested in finding ways to combine new technologies, art, and innovative exhibition spaces outside of the gallery confines.

Most recently Maxey completed her first installment of Project Elements Easthampton, a multimedia project about Easthampton, MA, and how it relates to the four elements. The first project, Earth, incorporated time-based living audio sculptures, night photographs of Easthampton structures, a cell phone audio tour of weird and true stories and an A-Z series of illustrations based on unremembered histories. Through historical study, audio conjectures, and visual representations, Maxey explores the importance of place. The second phase Project Elements Easthampton: Water, supported in part by a grant from the Easthampton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, will be presented in July 2010.

She is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and has exhibited nationally.
