Call for Works - HUBRIS Performance Event

Last Day for Submissions is June 15 2010

HUBRIS is a two-day event that celebrates performance work that embraces the notion of self-grandiosity, emphasizing the most narcissistic and self-indulgent aspects of the medium.  The event will take place at the Mobius Art Space (www.mobius.org) on July 16 and 17, 2010. 

 

Proposals for timed and durational works may be sent to el@mobius.org.   Entries must be accompanied by an artist’s statement, description of how work fulfills the event theme, and a $20 non-refundable submission fee (can be sent via Paypal at www.mobius.org) per work.  Please include Paypal transaction number with entry.  Entries without these supplementary materials will not be considered.

can you clarify please for me this notion of self-grandiosity? i may want to submit on this one, but do not know if my thing is good for this events or not

i encourage you to interpret the terms as to how you see fit, but here are some explanations behind the verbage:

hubris - excessive pride or self-confidence

self-grandiosity - excessively grand presentation of the self, impressive and magnificent

note the emphasis on *excessive*
