Things are getting weird now. and moving in unexpected directions. It has been a strange two days. First, I found these three torn out pages from the collected lectures of C.G. Jung in my bag that had fallen out while i was reading 'The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche.,' an earlier work of his. However the pages that fell out were from lectures he gave towards the end of his life. These were: 'Psychology and Religion: West and East,' 'The Spiritual Problem of Modern Man,' and 'Civilization in Transition.' These were written between the late 1940's and mid-1960's. In each, Jung has taken quite a different perspective than that furthered by his contemporary psychoanalytics. These writings (from the academic perspective) reflect some of his more bizarre and less esteemed ideas. Many of his thoughts on the philosophical tradition of Western psychology as a precursor to our current mind- body dualism and religion-science dualism are present here. One of my favorite passages from these three torn-out pages:
'If, then, we accept the restrictions imposed upon the capacity of our mind, we demonstrate our common sense. I admit it is something of a sacrifice, inasmuch as we bid farewell to that miraculous world in which mind-created things and beings move and live. This is the world of the primitive, where even inanimate objects are endowed with a living, healing, magic power through which we participate in us, and we in them. Sooner or later we had to understand that their potency was really ours, and that their significance was our projection.'

I drew this image on the floor of mobius yesterday. I can't tell you what it has to do with attachment theory...but i must say that this robot seems to have always been a totem to me, and this seems his rightful place.
PLEO is now becoming the dinosaur. Form is becoming image. Is this backwards?
A further passage:
'The theory of knowledge is only the last step out of humanity's childhood, out of a world where mind-created figures populated a metaphysical heaven and hell.'
and in response to modern christian practices in western europe at the time:
"The faithful try to remain children instead of becoming as children."
Somehow this is all relevant to me and this work right now.
